Traci is an artist and an optimist who makes pots for flowers, pots for food and pots for fun. She grew up in a small, rural town in Central Massachusetts named for the redness of the soil. Perhaps that explains her affinity for earthenware. As a young adult, Traci studied photography at the Art Institute of Chicago and received her M.F.A.
Today, she resides on Lower Cape Cod where she has been making and learning about pots for the past ten years. She exhibits locally and as Mountain Laurel Pottery sells her flower pots at the local Farmers Market in Orleans. Traci casts her functional wares and experiments with traditional majolica techniques.
When asked to describe her pottery, Traci's 14 year old daughter replies, "It is hipster pretty; sweaters and coffee shop pretty!" In other words, warm and comfortable with a stimulating earthiness.
